lyrics

I think this year's gonna be my last one,
Can't go through another like the last one.
I miss that smile, and that ho ho ho ho ho.

We owe so much to him.
But now our loyalty's wearing thin.

The workshop feels so clinical
And all the old elves are getting cynical.

It used to be so much fun,
Working late with everyone.
Making toys until the sun
Rose on a new day...
...but those were the old ways.

Creating toys was my pleasure.
Toy to smile ratios we could measure.
But now it's molds and codes and go go go go go.

The automation is a curse.
And losing him has made it worse.

They say it makes it more efficient,
But a hammer and nails used to be sufficient.

Oh it used to be so much fun.
Singin' songs with everyone.
Making joy until the sun,
Rose on a new day...
...but those were the old ways.
...no joy in these new ways.
So after the big day...
...I'll hang this hammer up for good.
